Frequently Asked Questions
I am a student — can I request guidance on my power electronics project?
Yes, absolutely. I enjoy helping students. Please share your project topic, what stage you are at, what specific question you have, and what you have already tried. This helps me give you targeted guidance rather than general advice. I cannot do the work for you but I can point you in the right direction.
Are the calculators on this website accurate enough for real designs?
The calculators use standard formulas (IPC-2221 for PCB traces, IEC models for capacitor lifetime, standard converter design equations) and are suitable for initial sizing and feasibility studies. They are not a replacement for full simulation (SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink) or engineering review. Always verify results with your specific component datasheets and qualified engineers before committing to a design for production.
Can I invite you to speak at our conference or institution?
Yes, I welcome speaking invitations for IEEE conferences, academic institutions, industry workshops and professional seminars. Topics I speak on include: power electronics design, EV charging technology, capacitor reliability, LLC converters and engineering career development. Please share the event details, date, format and expected audience in your message.
I found a bug or issue in one of the calculators — how do I report it?
Please use the contact form above and select "Calculator feedback / bug report". Include the calculator name, what inputs you entered, what result you got, and what you expected. Screenshots are very helpful. I aim to fix reported issues within a few days. Your feedback helps make these tools better for everyone.
